CTK Confirmation Rites for a Record 51 Confirmands
CTK’s Sacrament of Confirmation was held last November 18, Saturday, at the Main Church, from 9 am to 11 am. The Confirmation Rite was officiated by Monsignor Antonio Mortillero. The actual rites were slightly held up when it was found that the Libis confirmands had not yet done confession prior to the mass. But a quick scramble by the organizers to get as many confessors as possible solved what could have been a major emergency.
The Confirmation Rite proceeded solemnly with evocative music and a rousing homily by Monsignor Mortillero. A total of 51 confirmands, 25 from Barangay Libis and 26 from the CTK villages and outside the parish, took their confirmation rites, escorted by their parents, and in some cases, godparents. The 51 boys and girls had gone through their catechesis for two hours, from 10 am to 12 nn, over six Saturdays – October 8, October 15, October 22, October 29, November 5, and November 11. The classes were conducted by Sonny and Mina Mejia, heads of the Mustard Ministry, together with Alma Yeh and Sheryl Coronel of the Catechetical Ministry. Parents and godparents were also given a 3-hour catechetical seminar on the Sacrament of Confirmation and their roles in supporting the confirmands in their new life as young workers of Christ. The classes were characterized by lectures, slide shows, videos, reflections, sharing, and prayers.
