bishop-raul-martirezThe Most Reverend Raul Q. Martirez, D.D. was formerly Bishop-Emeritus of San Jose de Antique after he retired and is now a guest bishop at Christ the King Parish Greenmeadows. Despite his 78 years of age, Bishop Raul continues to assist with CTK affairs, celebrating one or two masses every weekend, celebrating the occasional daily masses, officiating at some weddings, baptisms, confession sessions, etc.

Up to 2015, Bishop Raul also regularly acted as Pilgrimage Chaplain for the annual European and Holy Land pilgrimages led by CTK. His unmatched knowledge and deep background into biblical history and pilgrimage geography had made him much sought-after as pilgrimage chaplain.

Bishop Raul was ordained as priest in 1961 and then had his Episcopal Ordination (as bishop) in 1983, both at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Roxas City. In 1968, he was made Rector of the St. Pius X Seminary in Roxas City and in 1978, Rector of the St. Joseph Regional Seminary in Iloilo City. 1n 1986, he became a member of the CBCP Permanent Council and was made Chairman of the Episcopal Commission for Non-Believers. In 2002, at the age of 65, Bishop Raul took official retirement.

He received his theology degree from the UST Central Seminary in 1960 and then received his MA from the Angelicum University in Rome in 1973.
