“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Mt 28:19-20)
Faith formation starts early in life when mom and dad by their example form the child in the way of life as a Christian. It continues in a more formal way as one approaches school age. Faith formation is particularly important as one receives the various sacraments and children grow to maturity in the faith.
The Catechetical Ministry’s mission is to plan and implement programs for Catechesis of children, youth, and their parents; and to assist in preparation of those receiving the Sacraments.
Parish catechists are responsible for the various religious education and sacramental preparation programs at Christ the King Parish Greenmeadows. The catechists reach out to youth to invite them to a relationship with Jesus and the Christian community.
Catechists to public elementary schools provide weekly educational programs that include instruction, prayer, Scripture, service and community building. The catechetical staff seeks to provide support and guidance to families as they live out their faith through prayer and worship, service and work as well as every day family life. Catechism in public high schools consists of the Word, worship, creating community, justice and service, enablement, guidance and healing and advocacy.
Parish catechists need to be trained and certified through the Diocese of Cubao process. The heads of the Catechetical Ministry are Alma Yeh and Sheryl Coronel.
