“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Mt 28:19-20)

Faith formation starts early in life when mom and dad by their example form the child in the way of life as a Christian. It continues in a more formal way as one approaches school age. Faith formation is particularly important as one receives the various sacraments and children grow to maturity in the faith.

The Catechetical Ministry’s mission is to plan and implement programs for Catechesis of children, youth, and their parents; and to assist in preparation of those receiving the Sacraments.

Parish catechists are responsible for the various religious education and sacramental preparation programs at Christ the King Parish Greenmeadows. The catechists reach out to youth to invite them to a relationship with Jesus and the Christian community.

At CTK, the ministry is responsible for the annually Flores de Mayo summer catechism classes conducted for the youth of barangays Libis and Bagumbayan. Usually, over a hundred kids attend the daily sessions in May, with ages from 7 to 12. The program culminates in a eucharistic mass and closing festivities on the last day of May.

The ministry is also responsible for the annual First Communion and Confirmation. The applicants first go through a set of weekly preparatory catechetical classes sometime in October and November. In 2017, 20 first-time communicants received First Communion last November 11. The mass was officiated by Fr. Bong Tupino. On the other hand, 51 confirmands, 25 from Barangay Libis and 26 from the CTK villages and outside the parish, had their confirmation rites last November 18, 2017 with Msgr. Antonio Mortillero officiating. The 51 boys and girls had gone through their catechesis for two hours, from 10 am to 12 nn, over six Saturdays – October 8,October 15, October 22, October 29, November 5, and November 11.

Parish catechists need to be trained and certified through the Diocese of Cubao process. The heads of the Catechetical Ministry are Alma Yeh and Sheryl Coronel.
