Following the enthusiasm demonstrated by the Catholic faithful during the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis once again invited Catholics worldwide to celebrate ’24 Hours for the Lord’. The 24-hour Vigil, broken up into 24 one-hour chunks, began last March 24, Friday at the Divine Mercy Chapel at 8 am, after the 7 am mass. It ended with the 6 am mass of the following day, Saturday March 25, which was, not coincidentally, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.

The Feas t of the Annunciation commemorates the visit of the archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary, during which he informed her that she would be the mother of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. For the 24 hours, the Blessed Sacrament was exposed. Then, before the 7 am mass of March 25, the Blessed Sacrament went through Benediction and Reposition back to the Tabernacle.

Fr. Bong Tupino requested the different organizations, ministries, and villages to lead the vigil prayers for each of the 24 hours. Assigned to each of the 24 hours were: Ladies of Charity; Corinthian Gardens, Greenwi c h , Arcadia & Corinthian Hills; Catholic Women’s League; Buklod ng Panginoon; St. Ignatius; LSS, Healing Ministry & Legion of Mary; Libis; Mother Butler Mission Guild; White Plains & Green Meadows; Apostleship of Prayer; Acropolis; Christian Family Movement & Couples for Christ; Diwanihan Kristiyano; Enclave & Ivory Court; CTK Youth; and EMHC & Knights of Columbus.
