The Holy Week penitential service and confessions, or Kumpisalang Bayan, was held over three full evenings, from April 10, Holy Monday, to April 12, Holy Wednesday. Following the 6 pm masses on Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday, there was a short Penitential Rite with Examination of Conscience. Then the assigned priests, numbering four on day 1 and six by day 3, took their positions in the two confessional boxes at the back of the church, at the front on both sides of the altar, and at the front side corners to hear the individual confessions. Although confessions were supposed to last till only 8 pm, for all three days, the Kumpisalang Bayan ran over time, up to past 9 pm on two of the three days.
