Ten new altar servers attended the Basic Formation for new altar servers that started last Saturday January 20. The ten altar server candidates listened intently to Vocation Ministry head Louie Laudico’s explanation of the Liturgical Calendar and Liturgical Seasons, as well as the significance of the different vestment colors at the different Liturgical seasons. The ten new altar server candidates included:
1. Rain Benedict Arche
2. Alano Aldea
3. Gabriel Ludwig P. Abando
4. Jonathan Paolo Chupungco
5. Jaime Antonio E. Coronel
6. Jaime Alfonso G. Cruz
7. Jose Luccas M. Leong
8. Karl Francis Manlosa
9. Samuel Edward P. Sabat
10. Dion Andre’ N. Shani
One of the formation’s guest speakers was senior altar server John Juat, who gave an eloquent explanation to the New and Active Altar Servers why he continues to serve in the mass. John, who started as an altar server when he was nine years old, is currently 27. He confessed that he’s happy and feels very fulfilled whenever he serves at a mass. He also enjoys teaching the new altar servers the do’s and don’ts of serving in the mass.
Most of the new altar servers who completed the Basic Formation were immediately thrust into apprenticeship service the following weekend, serving in the January 28 Sunday masses.
