Fr. Herbert ‘Herbie’ Santos, former parochial vicar of Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish, celebrated his second presbyteral ordination anniversary at his new assignment in Sta. Maria della Strada Parish, in Katipunan corner Pansol Street, Loyola Heights, last February 22.

Fr. Herbie grew up as a CTK parishioner and is the son of Bert and Marie Anne Santos, the current head Lay Coordinator couple for the CTK Parish Pastoral Council. He only left the Christ the King Parish Greenmeadows when he was ordained two years ago, back in February 22, 2016, which coincides with the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter the Apostle, at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao, which was also attended by Archbishop Soc Villegas. Eleven months earlier, in March of 2015, Herbie was ordinated to the Sacred Order of Deacons at Christ the King Church. Reverend Herbie is the first-ever priest from the parish of Christ the King-Greenmeadows.

At his anniversary mass, Fr. Herbie was the main celebrant. Fr. Nelson Orqueta, Parish Priest of Sta. Maria della Strada Parish, delivered a nice homily about the Chair of St. Peter.

In attendance during the ordination anniversary mass were: Bishop Ness Ongtioco, Msgr. Tony Mortillero, Msgr. Dan Sta. Maria, Fr. Nelson Orqueta, Fr. Bong Tupino, Fr. Steve Zabala, Fr. Jun Pascual, Fr. Ronald Macale, Fr. Jojo Monis, Fr. Raymond Arre, Fr. Fred Narvasa, Fr. Junjun Borres SJ, Fr. Vic de Jesus SJ, Fr. Jover Domanico, Fr. Roque of Opus Dei, and Fr. Milton from Bangladesh. Msgr. Dan was parish priest during Fr. Herbie’s first stint at Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish while Fr. Vic de Jesus was the San Jose Seminary Rector when Fr. Herbie entered the seminary in 2009.

Dinner with Clergy, family, and close friends together with PPC members of the della Strada parish, followed.

A highlight of the dinner was a surprise video of Fr. Herbie’s life that was presented during the reception. Also distributed during the dinner were copies of the latest della Strada parish newsletter that featured Fr. Herbie. Aside from the Santos family and the CTK priests, the parish was also represented by Louie Laudico.
