MBMG Recollection
The Mother Butler Mission Guild held a recollection last May 4, conducted by Fr. Jerry Orbos. Fr. Orbos had been a Formation speaker before at Christ the King Parish Greenmeadows. Some of Fr. Orbos’ key messages:
‣ When suffering or in pain, meditate on Mother Mary, who has a ‘doctorate’ in pain yet remained gentle and joyful.
‣ The past is done. Stop rewinding. Leave your troubled past to Jesus. Be grateful and move on. Otherwise you cannot experience being grateful in the present. But if you insist on being miserable, don’t make others miserable too.
‣ Humility starts when we realize that all that we have came from God.
‣ Don’t be concerned with what people say. Be concerned with what God will say.
‣ Never forget to smile, to laugh; never take yourself too seriously.
‣ Worried about trials? Remember that God said He will always be with you.
‣ Instead of dwelling on your problems, give them to the Lord.
‣ You don’t need to rejoice in money, belongings, or career. Rather, rejoice in God our Savior. The Lord is enough.
‣ We worry about so many things – our marriage, our work, our kids, our grandkids, our health. Stop worrying about the future. Look at the flowers and the birds in the air; the Lord is taking care of them.
‣ No one leaves this world alive. So leave it to God. The more you worry, the more you hurry to the cemetery. Rather, spend the remainder of your Fme on earth with your loved ones and paying back.
‣ Let Mother Mary be our example – ‘Thy Will be done!’
MBMG meets monthly with our parish priest, Fr. Bong, usually either the second or third Wednesday, at 8 am right after the 7 am mass. In their February 14 meeting, Fr. Bong emphasized that he had no complaints on cash collection in all the years that MBMG had been assigned the task. At the March 21 meeting, the Lenten assignments were ironed out.
