Catechism Ministry Calls for Volunteers; Issues 2019 Catechism Class Dates
The Catechetical Ministry released to the Lectors and Commentators liturgical group the draft catechism class dates for 2019 last March 8. The draft still has to get Fr. Steve’s approval.
The bulk of the workload is with the CTK scholars under the wings of Ladies of Charity and Knights of Columbus. The new schoolyear starts in June so the Grade 7 to 9 and the Grade 10 to college schedules for Basic Catechism start on June 1, 2019 and ends March 29, 2020. Both groups meet separately with our CTK volunteer catechists on the first Saturdays, from 10 am to 12 noon, and fourth Sundays, from 9 am to 11 am, with Grades 7 to 9 using St. Matthew- Mark Rooms and Grades 10 to college using St. Luke Room. But both groups join up every 3rd Saturdays for the Bible Catechism classes, drawn up from June 15 to March 21, from 9 am to 11 am.
In addition, the Catechetical Ministry released their tentative schedule for the second half of the Flores de Mayo Catechism classes for Libis youngsters age 7 to 12. From May 13 to May 24, since it is the Year of the Youth, the catechists will be talking about the Young Saints, such as St. Maria Goretti, St. Pedro Calungsod, St. Dominic Savio, St. Bernadette Soubirous, St. Maria del Pilar Cimadevilla, etc.
Ministry co-head Sheryl Coronel sounded the call for the catechetical volunteers, and LeComs Tessa Mangahas and Joy Schallenberg immediately volunteered for specific classes. Sheryl and co-head Alma Yeh are confident that they can get enough volunteers to fill up theslots.
