Apostleship of Prayer Holds Lenten Recollection for Camp Karingal Jail Staff
Last April 12, the Christ the King Parish – Apostleship of Prayer sponsored a Lenten Recollection for the staff of BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology) assigned at Quezon City Female Dorm in Camp Karingal where AP-CTK has been doing apostolic work for the last fifteen years.
The group of twenty eight male and female force was headed by Superintendent Elena Rocamora. The recollection was conducted in Filipino and facilitated by Ma. Andrea S. Mendigo.
The first talk was entitled, ‘Ano Ang Kahulugan ng Aking Binyag Bilang Katoliko?’ The second talk was, ‘Ang Banal na Puso ni Hesus at Ang Dalawang Debosyon.’ Third was on ‘Ang Pagiging Santo : Ang Pag-aalay ng Sarili Kay Hesus sa Umaga’. All three talks were followed by reflection questions.
The fourth and last talk, ‘Ang Pagsusuri ng Budhi’, was followed by a guided examination of conscience and preparation for Confession.
The recollection was held at CTK St. John function rooms A & B from 8:00am to 2:30pm.
Before the end of the session, Fr. Steve Zabala gave a meaningful talk about the ‘Jordan’ in our lives. He mentioned that when Jesus was at his lowest point, He went back to the place which made an impact in his life most – not in Bethlehem where he was born, not in Nazareth where he spent his growing up years, not in Bethany where his friends Mary, Martha and Lazarus came from and where he spent happy moments with them. But he went back to the River Jordan to reKlect because that was the place where he was baptized.
The recollection day culminated in the sacrament of reconciliation. Fr. Henry Ferreras and Fr. Jojo Gatdula, guest priests of CTK parish, heard the confessions of the participants.
It’s worth noting that Superintendent Elena Rocamora, QCFED warden, did not require the staff to wear their uniforms to make them feel that they were not on duty.
