After giving communion, the CTK Extraordinary Ministers gave away sandwiches and juices (200 of each) with prayer books, rosaries and scapulars. They also gave out 50 pairs of Andas mosquito repellant, one bottle for patient and one bottle for his ‘bantay’. Finally, they turned over P126,000 in donation to the head of the QMMC Social Services Department, Ms. Rosita T. Pineda, and her assistant, Ms. Edna Cruz, Social Service Officer II.

In celebration of the World Day of the Sick, eight EMHC ministers led by EMHC Assistant Coordinator Manny de Leon spent the entire morning of April 6 ministering to the sick and elderly patients at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) along Katipunan. At each ward or group, the EMHCs prayed the Lord’s Prayer before proceeding with giving Holy Communion to the Catholic patients.

The eight lay ministers who went to QMMC included – Allan Roxas, Robert Locsin, Anjoe Ramos, Reno Magadia, Manny de Leon, Louie Reyes, Irwin Reyes, and Mon Acuin. The team left CTK at 8 am and finished at 11 am.

It will be recalled that the original World Day of the Sick was February 11. However, due to the measles scare, both Quirino and the CTK EMHC liturgical ministry agreed to postpone the event until after the outbreak had been contained, hence the later visit date of April 6.
