CTK Again Hosts Vicariate Assembly on DCPA 8
CTK Parish Greenmeadows hosted the 2nd Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Vicariate General Assembly for 2019 last May 6. Over 90 representatives from the seven parishes making up OLPH vicariate – San Roque (with the biggest delegation), Nativity of the Lord, Perpetual Help, Christ the King Greenmeadows, Our Lady of Miraculous Medal, and TransSiguration of Our Lord – came to hear additional details on Agendum no. 5: Engaging the Youth.
Johnny Liao from the Mt. Carmel Shrine and head of the Policies and Structures Secretariat gave the briefing, as what he did during the first Vicariate Assembly Last February 18. In attendance from the clergy side were Fr. Steve Zabala, CTK parish priest and event host who also gave the welcome remarks; Fr. Choy Garcia, Nativity of the Lord Parish, who shared his personal observation; Fr. Larry Garces, San Roque Parish who also gave his personal observations and closing prayer; and Fr. Omer Prieto of San Antonio de Padua Parish.
In attendance for CTK, aside from Fr. Steve, were Lay Coordinator couple Bert and Marie Anne Santos, Assistant Lay Coordinator Henry Tanedo, Secretary David and Fely Ong, Treasurer Elise and Bing del Rosario, BEC Coordinator Eileen de Leon, Stewardship head Benjie and Wins Mirasol, and Youth Coordinator Althea Geronilla.
Johnny Liao gave away copies of the DCPA 8 booklet so far prepared by his team containing action plan templates that can be adopted in whole or in part by the parishes and which he enjoined the PPC Lay Coordinators to share with their PPC members in their next meetings. He admitted that every parish situation is different hence every action plan by agendum could be different. The key objective was to bring in the different ministries to work together on each agendum.
He clarified that the agenda planning will take place in the coming fiscal year to be ready for full implementation starting FY2020. For each agendum, the team consisting of different ministry representatives led by the agendum coordinator would define the objectives and draw up a parish agendum plan. The consolidated agenda plan would then be presented by the Lay Cooordinator before next year’s planning cycle.
After Johnny’s discussion, he asked the representatives to huddle by parish and take 10 minutes to answer the following questions:
‣ What does this agendum mean to you?
‣ How do you want to do it?
‣ What are the ministries involved?
After this individual responses, he then asked the parish teams to huddle and review everyone’s answers and then identify a rapporteur. For CTK, Althea Geronilla summarized the sentiments of the CTK representatives.
The next General Assemblies for the OLPH vicariate has been scheduled for June 17 to tackle Agenda 1 (Integrating Families into Parish Life) and 2 (Animating Parish Life). Agenda 3 (Renewed Witnesses of the Faith) and Agenda 4 (Human Dignity) will be discussed on August 12, and
October 14 is when the OLPH Vicariate gets to discuss Agenda 7 (New Media) and Agenda 8 (stewardship).
