Formally Closing CTK’s Flores de Mayo Activities
CTK wrapped up the month of May with the formal closing of the Parish Flores de Mayo last May 31, a Wednesday, which also happened to be the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As had been done for the last 30 days, it began with the praying of the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy, then praying of the rosary, the flower offering by attendees, and finally the blessing of images of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This was then followed by the regular 6 pm mass, all at the main church.
May 31 also marked the recognition ceremony for the over-a-hundred Libis children who had come daily since May 1 for the catechism classes where Alma Yeh, Sheryl Coronel, and the over-a-dozen volunteers taught them how to pray the rosary, the meaning of the rosary prayers, and the story behind the Mysteries. The Libis children, from ages 9 to 14, ‘graduated’ from their May catechism class last May 30.
The graduation event started with a mass at 2:30 at the Divine Mercy Chapel, presided over by Fr. Serge Maniba, with Catechetical Ministry co-head Alma Yeh taking on the commentator role. The 100 plus children were organized by Jo Piyaw, Ching Botero and the Libis Youth coordinators. This was followed by the formal ‘graduation’ of the children and serving of snacks.
