Christ the King held its annual Lenten recollection for kasambahays and drivers last March 26, Holy Monday, and March 27, Holy Tuesday at St. Luke’s Room, from 9 am to 5 pm. The program was exactly the same for both days. The recollection was organized by the Catholic Women’s League, or CWL, headed by Alma Yeh. Kumpisalang Bayan

The Holy Week penitential service and confessions, or Kumpisalang Bayan, was held over three full evenings, from March 26, Holy Monday, to March 28, Holy Wednesday. Following the 6 pm masses on Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday, there was a short Penitential Rite with Examination of Conscience. Then the four assigned priests, which included Fr. Fr. Parilla Leads Parish Lenten Recollection

The Parish Lenten Recollection, scheduled for the Holy Paschal Triduum on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Black Saturday, went ahead as scheduled. from March 29 to 31 at the CTK main church, from 9:30 am to 12 noon. The recollection facilitator was Fr. Harold Anthony S. Parilla, a Professor of Theology at the St. John Marie Vianney Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro. Ordained to the priesthood in 2003, Fr. Bp. Raul Leads CFC and LSS Lenten Recollections

The CTK Life in the Spirit Prayer Community held its own lenten recollection last March 19, a Monday, during the Feast of St. Joseph. The recollection, given by CTK’s very own Spiritual Director Bishop Raul Martirez, was held at the Divine Mercy Chapel at 7:30 pm. Holy Thursday Vigil at the Altar of Repose

After incensing the Blessed Sacrament at the Holy Thursday rite, Fr. Bong carried it, in formal accompaniment by the CTK Knights of Columbus and under a canopy, to the beautifully adorned Divine Mercy Chapel below the main church, that served as the Altar of Repose. A simple Eucharistic Vigil followed, from 7 pm to midnight, assigned to the different CTK villages. The Visita Iglesia period, literally, ‘Seven Churches Visitation’, officially began at this time. After thorough review of the General Instructions of the Roman Missal and the Code of Canon Law, our bishop, Most Reverend Honesto Ongtioco, signed the circular on ‘Diocesan Guideline on the Universal Law on the Posture of Kneeling at Mass’ that was released last April 16. Outgoing CTK parish priest Fr. Bong Tupino celebrated his 25th Sacerdotal Anniversary last April 9 at the Manila Cathedral, the site where he was first ordained as priest, back in March 27, 1993. The ‘Solemn Thanksgiving Mass’ marking Rev. Fr. Jose Sanmillan Tupino III’s 25th anniversary in the priesthood was celebrated on the occasion of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, as the Manila Cathedral is less known. Remembering Not to Forget: How Seniors Can Battle Demen

The Sunrise Ministry, headed by Doy and Estrelle Lopez, held the first seniors only event for 2018 last April 14 at the CTK Formation Center. Nearly a hundred seniors attended. The theme of the gathering was aptly called ‘Remembering Not to Forget’ and focused on the brain and how to keep the seniors’ mental faculties intact.
