The Lectors and Commentators Ministry (LeCom) had their own commissioning two weeks earlier, last August 13 during the 10:30 am mass and last August 16, during the 7 am mass. Seven new lectors-commentators were commissioned by Fr. Bong Tupino at the August 13 Sunday mass while the last two were commissioned by Fr. Serge Maniba at the August 16 Wednesday morning mass. The nine new lectors included: Leilani Reyes; Mercenita Matsuda; Tessa Mangahas; Margarita Fabella; Jocas Eightria de Leon; Consuelo Diño; Ma Angelique Rualo (all August 13); Ma. Christina Bernardo; and Rossana Kawpeng (both August 16).

The Lectors & Commentators Ministry, led by Mel Novales, also had its own recruitment drive since June, given that some of the members were retiring in 2017 and others who had taken leave had not yet expressed a desire to return this year. The need is especially felt for the 6 pm daily masses since most of the retirees serve at that slot. ‘I’m hoping for an abundant harvest of volunteers ’, said LeCom ministry head Mel Novales. Mel’s prayers had been answered with the nine new lectors.

The Lectors and Commentators will have their 2017 renewal seminar, a requirement for getting their 2018 ‘renewals’, on September 9, 16 and 23 (CTK LeCom date is formally September 23). The Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist will have their renewal seminars on October 7, 14 and 21. Greeters and Collectors will have their own renewal date on November 4. The very last requirement for 2018 renewal, after the renewal seminar at the Diocese head office, is the commissioning at the CTK main church, dates to be advised.
