The ‘CTK Village Coordinators seminar-workshop on Basic Ecclesial Communities’ took place at Antipolo’s St. Michael’s Retreat House last August 12, Saturday. It started with the 6 am mass at CTK, then departure via carpool to Sumulong Memorial Circle, Antipolo at 6:45 am. After lunch, the third session followed at 1:30 pm and the concluding wrap up-synthesis came at 3:30 pm.

All sessions were facilitated by Joey Clemente, Executive Director of the Socio-Pastoral Institute, or SPI, and guest speaker at the March 11 Stewardship talk at Christ the King Parish Greenmeadows, where Clemente had talked on ‘Using Stewardship as Building Blocks for BEC’. Everyone got back to CTK safe and sound before 6 pm.

Attending, aside from Fr. Bong Tupino and Joey Clemente, were: Bert Santos, PPC lay coordinator and ‘animator designate’ for village coordinators; Benjie and Wins Mirasol and Ben and Linda Famador of Stewardship; Linda Guanzon and Vangie Yam of Corinthian Gardens; Dulce Barreto and Eileen de Leon of Greenmeadows 1; Anne del Rosario and Irene Robles of Acropolis; Paul and Dinah Uy of Corinthian Hills; Baby Banal of St. Ignatius; and Tiny Perfecto, BEC in-charge.

White Plains, St. Ignatius, Enclave, Ivory Cour t , La Maison , Arcadia , and Greenmeadows 3 were not represented at the workshop.

Tiny Perfecto, BEC ministry head, said, ‘The workshop objective was to deepen the understanding behind the hows and whys of organizing the CTK villages into Basic Ecclesial Communities. The focused group sessions drew both positive and negative reactions and facilitator Joey Clemente mentioned by seminar end that what the participants learned should be seen as mere guides to open the mind, body and spirit into ‘learning by doing’.‘
