The CTK Youth Ministry held its Youth leaders outing-pilgrimage to Holy Land Subic last May 27. Fr. Serge Maniba and Vocation ministry head and EMHC senior minister Louie Laudico, with EMHC ministers Robert Locsin and Louie Reyes, teamed up to visit three sick patients and give the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick last August 28, a Monday. Anointing of the Sick effectively removes and forgives the sick person of all his sins. It also strengthens the soul of the sick person against all sin and temptations aside from the healing action that it does for the person. Fr. Serge also heard confessions. The Lectors and Commentators Ministry (LeCom) had their own commissioning two weeks earlier, last August 13 during the 10:30 am mass and last August 16, during the 7 am mass. Seven new lectors-commentators were commissioned by Fr. Bong Tupino at the August 13 Sunday mass while the last two were commissioned by Fr. Serge Maniba at the August 16 Wednesday morning mass. Sixteen new Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion, or EMHC, were commissioned last Sunday, August 27 at the 5 pm mass officiated by none other than Fr. Bong Tupino, CTK parish priest. With the addition of the 16 new members, there are now 96 active EMHCs. Led by Albert Cuadrante, the EMHC had been looking for new candidates since June. A new twist in the EMHC recruitment drive was to ask the lectors and commentators, who are mostly female, if their husbands might be interested, and this strategy yielded several candidates. Ministry Heads Drs. Fernando and Estrellita Lopez gave an overview of the about how the ministry came into being – an idea from CTK parish priest Fr. Bong Tupino back in June 2016 who saw the need for a ministry which specially caters to the needs of seniors. The CTK Stewardship team in cooperation with Diwanihan Kristiyano sponsored a talk by Dr. Peter Howard, internationally known author and speaker, last July 11 from 8 to 10 pm at the CTK Formation Center. The talk was entitled ‘Fatima 2017: 100 Years Later – Mary’s Triumph, Our Hope, A Final Warning’. CTK successfully held a second conduct of ‘The 7 Habits of Successful Families’ Workshop, during the two Saturdays of July 22 and July 29. For two full days, from 8 am to 5 pm, husband and wife team Rene and Consie Montemayor led 31 participants, consisting of 10 families (they were either parent couples, single parents, or parents and their children), seven singles, and two seminarians, through talks, reKlection, sharing and exercises meant to strengthen their families and create happy homes. There has always been good relations between Muslims and Christians in Mindanao, especially at the highest levels. The government could have taken advantage of the Marawi crisis by using Christian and Muslim leaders to negotiate with the Maute extremists. This was the primary message of Most Rev.
