This May 13 marks the 100th year anniversary, or centennial, of the 8irst of several Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, in Fatima, Portugal. In May 1917, in the midst of World War I, Pope Benedict XV, after repeated but forlorn appeals for world peace, made a direct appeal to Mary to intercede for peace in the world. Fr. Bong Tupino was the co-pilgrimage chaplain, along with Fr. Jeffrey Quinetela, for the April 16 to 29, 2017 edition of ‘Enthralling Eastern Europe’, a ‘Journeys of Faith’ pilgrimage tour that took pilgrims through Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. Buklod ng Panginoon, the renewal movement based in St. Ignatius Village, now headed by Cita Pabillo who took over from Lulay dela Cruz, held a pilgrimage of Pampanga churches last April 25. As part of the CTK celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, Bishop Raul Martirez gave a Marian Talk last May 20 on the apparitions. Bishop Raul began with a brief geography and history lesson to set the time and place context of the apparitions. We congratulate Christ the King Parish’s Bible Quiz team, composed of Trix Delena, Peter Banico, and Sheryl Coronel for garnering first place in our Lady of Perpetual Help Vicariate (which has seven parishes) quiz contest held last May 6. The second General Assembly for Lectors & Commentators took place last May 6, a Saturday. The first hour was led by LeCom Coordinator Mel Novales who went through the calendar of activities for May and June. He reminded the group that the two remaining GAs are schedule for July 26 and October 21 and the schedule for renewal of current members is on September 16 in the afternoon at Lantana, Cubao. The CTK Youth Ministry held its Youth Parish Renewal Experience, from the evening of May 19 until the evening of May 21. As in previous years, venue was the entire ground floor of the Formation Center. This was open to all single youth ages 17-30. This organization aims to bring other people, specifically the youth, to renew their relationship with the Lord and to build a stronger foundation with Him. As part of its Lenten activities, Christ the King Parish held the Way of the Cross every Tuesdays and Thursdays at the different villages that make up the parish. Last April 25, 2017, the Ladies of Charity went ahead with their quarterly rice distribution, this time at Holy Cross Parish in the historic Krus na Ligas district of Diliman. This follows the last quarter’s January rice distribution at San Isidro Labrador Parish. It’s also the second time the Ladies of Charity distributed rice in Krus na Ligas - the first time was approximately the same time last year, although Fr. The parish’s Youth Ministry and the CTK Days with the Lord held two easter egg hunts last Easter Sunday, April 16, one after the 7:30 am mass and the other after the 9 am mass. Both were held at the garden area in front of the main church. The fun event was open to kids aged 8 years old and below but they should have registered at either 7 am or 8:30 am.
