Holy Week & Easter Triduum Activities: from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday

It was a very busy Holy Week for Christ the King Parish. Holy Week began, of course, with Palm Sunday. The 7:30 am mass was celebrated by parish priest Fr. Bong Tupino , with the blessing of palms at the parking lot in front of the Divine Mercy Chapel, with palm wavers led by the 12 selected ‘apostles’. Basic Orientation Seminar for Altar Servers

The Basic Formation for New Altar Servers was held over four Saturdays - March 4, March 18, and March 25 - from 2 to 4:00 pm. Boys who had already received their First Holy Communion were qualiIied to join. All sessions were held at St. John Hall C. Louie Laudico, former PPC president and currently Vocation Ministry and Altar Server Ministry in-charge, led all four sessions. Bishop Raul Leads Laguna Pilgrimage for Lent

Last April 2, Christ the King Parish’s Bishop Raul Martirez led a Laguna Pilgrimage. The pilgrimage, with 44 passengers in one tour bus, was organized by Catholic Travel, Inc. A total of seven Laguna churches were visited in just one day. Palm Sunday at Christ the King

Much larger crowds than usual greeted all the presiders for all the Palm Sunday masses last April 9, including the Saturday April 8 anticipated masses. Fr. Ronald Plomillo presided over three Palm Sunday masses, Fr. Bong Tupino did two, and Fr. Serge Maniba, James Ferry, Fr. Evan Villanueva presided over at least one mass. CTK Celebrates ’24 Hours for the Lord’

Following the enthusiasm demonstrated by the Catholic faithful during the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis once again invited Catholics worldwide to celebrate ’24 Hours for the Lord’. The 24-hour Vigil, broken up into 24 one-hour chunks, began last March 24, Friday at the Divine Mercy Chapel at 8 am, after the 7 am mass. It ended with the 6 am mass of the following day, Saturday March 25, which was, not coincidentally, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord. Parish Pastoral Council Tries ‘Coffee After Church’

Every Sunday after the 9 am mass at Christ the King Parish Church since March 5, parishioners have been greeted and treated with coffee and snacks in the front garden lawn. The ‘Coffee After Church’ Program, a brainchild of Parish Pastoral Council secretary couple David and Fely Ong, continues to be supported by different parishioners and groups. Annual Lenten Recollection for Drivers and Househelp

Christ the King held its annual Lenten recollection for kasambahays and drivers last April 10, Holy Monday, and April 11, Holy Tuesday at St. Luke’s Room, from 9 am to 5 pm. The program was exactly the same for both days. The recollection was organized by the Catholic Women’s League, or CWL, headed by Kim Cua. The recollection was facilitated by Fr. 19th Annotation Parish Retreat

March 18 was the date for the 19th Annotation Parish Retreat, organized by Formation Ministry head Joey Galvez for the CTK lectors and commentators, for other ministries and organizations, as well as parishioners who got to read the announcements. The mini-retreat, also known as the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, was two hours long, from 10 am to 12 nn. The retreat leader was Fr. Stewardship Committee Sponsors Spirituality of Stewardship Talk re BECs

‘Using Stewardship as Building Blocks for BEC’ was the topic of the Stewardship Talk by Joey Clemente of the Socio-Pastoral Institute last March 11 at the Parish Pastoral Council meeting, as part of the continuing orientation for CTK’s PPC on matters related to BECs and the theme of ‘Parish as Communion of Communities’. Joey Clemente began his talk by talking through the definition of BECs, which echoed Fr. CTK Donates 14 Fishing Boats for Pawa, Capiz Fisherfolk

Last March 2, 2017, in a simple turnover program at the Parish Church of San Nicolas de Tolentino in barangay Pawa in Panay, Capiz, the Christ the King parish representatives - Henry Tañedo and Peter Banico of EMHC, and Ben and Linda Famador of the Stewardship Committee - with parish priest Fr. Jocel Fara-on as witness, formally gave away 14 Niberglass boats with outboard motors to 14 lucky Pawa Nisher families.
